MilanTeatro Nazionale

Description
The theater opened in 1924. The building was designed by architect Mauro Rota. Some modernization of the Teatro Nazionale in 1979 is carried out by his son Giordano.
After a partial renovation of the building in 2001, the theater, under the direction of Massimo Romeo Piparo, changes its name to “Ventaglio Nazionale”.
In 2009, the theater is taken over by Stage Entertainment Italy[1]. In order to be able to rent musicals, it carries out an impressive reconstruction: changing the perimeter of the stage, replacing the lighting and sound equipment, increasing the auditorium to 1500 seats. Piazza Piemonte near the theater building has also been renovated: plantings, sculptures and underground parking have been added, and the pedestrian street between the theater and the square is named after Giordano Rota.
The renovated theater, with its original name, the National Theater, opens on October 24 with the musical Beauty and the Beast[2].
As of June 2013, the theater's name includes the sponsorship prefix “Barclays”[3].
